After waiting for Freefall to scuttle onto his shoulders, Barrier Breaker kneels down and wedges his thick fingers into a panel on the walk. It takes a good few moments of fiddling before coming loose thanks to his indelicate hands.
The isopod-former grips the handle of the folded cleaning net and stands up before peering suspiciously at the suddenly placid water.
"You think the monsters are going to try and grab the net?"

Everything considered, yes, the monsters probably will grab the net, Freefall mentally scoffs. It really wouldn't surprise him. Primus knows what's in there.
"Depends. What kinds of, er, monsters are in there?"
Not that this would make a blind bit of difference. Freefall's knowledge on monsters is rather lacking and he would probably only serve to make a less than appetizing snack should one decide to play with them.

"The kind with easily breakable jaws." Why, yes, Barrier Breaker is actually worrying about the monsters. "Axiom won't be too happy if that happens." That and the isopod-former doesn't think he can stomach knowing he's hurt a living critter, even if they were creepy and rather viscious.
Nonetheless the time for stalling was over and he slowly reaches out to slide the net carefully into the water, sweeping it slowly back and forth and listening carefully for any tell tale 'clink'-
Not even a second later a serpentine shape breaks the surface and wraps itself around the net. Barrier Breaker yelps and stumbles back as he tries to shake it off, back hitting the rails on the opposite side of the walk.

As Barrier Breaker stumbles back, Freefall flails and yelps wildly. He clings onto the behemoth as tightly as his little clawed hands would allow him.
There's a sharp shunt as Barrier Breaker hits the rails and Freefall's whole frame trembles at the noise and movement. It's just a well Barrier Breaker told him to move onto his shoulders when he did otherwise he'd be between a rail and a hard place right now. Or worse, over the edge and into the water.

The unfortunate thing about being in a room with a tankful of tentacly and/or serpentine monsters is that one would inevitably end up with more tentacly and/or serpentine monsters. The sudden increase in squirmy things around his feet was definitely a sure sign of such a phenomenon happening.
This was turning out to be a lovely adventure wasn't it?
"Eep!" Tentacle on is knee, there was a tentacle going up his knee, tentacle was going up his knee, oh scrap oh scrap- Barrier Breaker shakes it off and tries to detangle the net. It ends up being a precarious tug-of-war with him trying to make sure nothing managed to reach Freefall and the tentacle slowly creeping up his fore arm anyways. Slimey, gooey horror slowly gathering at his feet and the water roiling with the promise of more, the isopod- former tries to free himself from the monster's grasp and get back to the safety of the main hallway.
"Don't let them reach you! I'm not sure what the things want but it's better not to find out here."

Freefall widens his optics in sheer panic at the horror that is unfolding. Don't let them reach him? Easier said than done. He scours the area for any hope of escape, all the while his processor trying to figure out some miniscule way he could be of any help. He really doesn't have the spark to abandon Barrier Breaker, not like this.
"I-is there anything I can do?" he stammers, his voice breaking as the sentence is uttered.

"Wouldn't suggest it." Barrier Breaker grunts in a half hearted attempt at humor, still distracted by the myriad of tentacles wrapping themelves around his legs. "Besides, it's not like they can eat me." There certain advantages to being huge and metal here. He kicks off more of the tentacles as he pulls back but a small glow within the writhing mass stops him mid-motion.
"There!" He smacks another tentacle away before stepping back into the mess, trying to grasp the cylinder before it was dragged away. Unfortnately, the end result was that the spark still slipped away and for the briefest of moments, Barrier Breaker loses his cool. "Slagger!"

"Was that...the container!?"
Freefall feels his whole frame wilt. They were so close. Now they may never get the spark back and Axiom will be furious... And these fraggin tentacles just won't stop!
In an uncharacteristic burst of anger, Freefall lashes out, kicking and swiping at one of the creeping tentacles. This is all their stupid fault.

No use now, better back off. The lunge had cost him some footing but Barrier Breaker wasn't big for appearances only. He steps back and carefully extracts himself from the slimy mess, setting each foot solidly behind the other. Bringing an arm up to shield Freefall, he jumps slightly when the smaller mech lashes out at the lingering tentacles.
"You alright?" He murmurs softly as they finaly reach the safety of the hallway. The tentacles flop and squish about on the walkway but were otherwise well out of reach. The ispod-former frowns slightly at the sight and takes another step back for a good measure.
"... I don't think I'll ever get used to having a sibling if they are always getting into like this."

Away from the tentacles, Freefall begins to calm down, heaving and trembling from his own exertion. Not normally being one to retaliate, the effort of his rather pathetic struggles has left him somewhat exhausted.
"Well..." he heaves. "Now what do we do?"

"Well. You can explain to us why there's slime all over the floor." A very, very amused Aftermath says upon poking the little fluffball. No, he hasn't suddenly grown a few meters- he's simply floating off the floor thanks to outdated antigrav technology. Being rich and famous enough to find illegal holes in the Maximal system upon the day of upgrade did have its advantages.

"We're probably going to have to go-" Any reply from Barrier Breaker was overtaken by a brief, startled yelp when Aftermath speaks up from behind them.

Freefall practically jumps out of his furry little shell upon receiving the surprise poke from Aftermath. He scrabbles and yelps, his whole frame beginning to tremble again, before turning around to see who it is.
"Ohh...A-Aftermath!" Freefall stammers, lightly tapping one of Barrier Breaker's isopod arms. "So-so nice to see you again. Aheh." He manages a meek, gritted smile as he swishes his bushy tail. Things may have just gotten worse.

"I can tell by the unadulterated joy on your faces." The heavy Kaonian accent briefly disappears from Aftermath's voice as he touches down onto the floor once again, casting a curious sidelong glance at the tentacles as he let Barrier Breaker half-panic for a bit before uttering a low, "Huh."
Then he turns back to them and smirks at them. "I know you youngsters are all about experimenting, but tentacles? Kinda more in the advanced area, don't you think?"

"Now see here!" Freefall rages, twitching and fluffing indignantly. All the fur on his frame seems to bristle angrily and his ears and whiskers quiver. It's all he can think to say without blurting out the past traumatic events, though if his processor doesn't quickly catch up with his vocalizer, he'll most likely let slip everything.
